Impact alert! Electra is losing power.

Beneath the skies, the reactor powering the floating megacity of Electra is failing. Your team of engineers was dispatched to fix it — but a meteoroid storm cripples your spacecrafts on approach.

Now stranded at the city's edge, each player must collect resources, build circuits to repair their spacecraft's five subsystems, and be the first to reboot their reactor and return to the mission.

On every turn, players face a choice: draw resource cards to prepare, or spend them to claim a circuit card and physically build it on the Circuit Board using real Labbox electronic blocks — with a 2-minute timer running.

If the circuit works, you earn Repair Tokens. If it fails, you draw a Malfunction card and must retry next turn.

What makes this game different

As engineers passionate about education, this idea deeply resonated with us and bringing it to life has been an incredibly rewarding journey. At its core, the game is powered by Labbox electronics, a system designed for discovery of the science through hands-on experimentation. The electronic blocks of the Labbox system support mistakes - and have built-in 'mistake' indicators which made it possible to develop a clear testing protocol so families without knowledge of electronics can learn and have fun building circuits.

It's rare to find a game that brings so much hands-on circuit experimentation and keeps them excited for hours. Reactor Rescue does exactly that so well.

What impressed me most was the change I saw in my daughter. She started very quiet and hesitant, but by the end she was asking all kinds of curious questions like 'How does it turn on?' and 'Why does it do that?' As a parent, that was great to see.

"
The tension when testing a build is real. Everyone leans in. When it fails, you can see them analyzing what went wrong. It builds resilience.

I loved watching my daughter troubleshoot. The wonder in her eyes was priceless. She wasn't afraid to fail — she was excited and tried again.

The founders

Fiona & Arta Shehu
Sisters · Computer Science Engineers · Co-founders of Labbox Education & jCoders Academy

We've spent over a decade in classrooms. As co-founders of jCoders Academy in Kosovo, we've taught programming, electronics, and robotics to more than 10,000 children. We've watched kids build dancing robots, program their first games, wire their first circuits — and we've watched the exact moment it clicks for them. That face. That shift. When a child stops thinking they can't and starts proving they can.

We've also always loved board games. The way a great game pulls a family around a table. The friendly arguments, the strategies, the one more round at midnight. Games have a kind of magic that classrooms sometimes can't replicate — the stakes feel real, the motivation is intrinsic, and nobody feels like they're being taught. For years, those two worlds lived separately. Then we asked a simple question: what if they didn't? What if a board game could carry the full weight of a real engineering experience? What if kids could feel the tension of a ticking clock, the satisfaction of a circuit snapping into place, the pride of fixing something with their own hands — and never once feel like they were in a lesson?

That question became Reactor Rescue. Built with global manufacturing partner Hape, and shaped by ten years of watching children discover what they're capable of — this is our most ambitious product yet. Not just a game. Not just a learning tool. Something we've never quite seen before, because it didn't exist until we made it.
